Effingham Public Library is pleased to welcome local artist, Al Shouse. A retired Effingham resident, Al has not had professional training in art, but instead became interested in art when he was young. His mother encouraged his art by telling him that she thought he was able to see details that the rest of the family didn’t see, so he continued to keep trying to improve.
Al’s art revolves around scenes that he wants to remember: barns, that have since been torn down; horses, a long-time family love; and relaxing places. All of his artwork was created as a gift to leave to his grandchildren. For decades creating art has been an enjoyable, relaxing hobby that Al enjoys.
