Welcome to the Helen Matthes Library. The Helen Matthes Library is the public library of Effingham, Illinois. We have over 53,000 books, magazines, and audio-visual materials and an annual circulation of over 127,000 items. We are a member of the Illinois Heartland Library System. We have a nine member board of trustees that set policy and services, and holiday closings for our library.
