There’s so much happening at the library!!

We’re excited to announce that we’ve reached the $1 million mark in our fundraising campaign!  And, as we prepare for the new library, we want to encourage you to ask your friends to claim their library cards!  During September, we’ll have a “Refer-A-Friend” campaign, as well as replace those lost or dog-chewed library cards for free!  Check out our amazing September newsletter for details of other great library events for you and those in your life!

Check Out Seeds @ Helen Matthes Library

Welcome Spring!  It’s been a long, cold winter, and we are excited to see the warm sunshine and beginnings of green in our area.  As you plan your gardening season, visit the library and check out the seeds we have for you to check out and grow at home.

Thanks to funding from the Lumpkin Family Foundation, you can visit the library and borrow or checkout up to five packets of heirloom seeds that you can then grow at home in your own garden or container or at Effingham’s Community Garden, then enjoy the produce while saving a portion of the seeds for yourself for next year’s garden while returning some seeds to the library for us to share with others next year.

For more details, see our Your Guide to the Helen Matthes Seed Library or contact Johnna Schultz, Adult Services Manager.
